Beyond the Diagnosis: Seeing the Whole Story—Family, Identity, and the Counselor’s Journey

Join us for a full day of learning designed for mental health professionals who want to strengthen both their clinical practice and their sustainability in the field. Beyond the Diagnosis takes a whole-person approach-not only to the clients we serve, but also to the clinicians doing this important work.

This 9-CEU workshop brings together experienced mental health professionals to explore three important areas of clinical practice and professional wellness.

Kayla Kelly, LPC will present Beyond the Therapy Room: Creating a Sustainable Career in Mental Health, addressing the realities of burnout, work-life integration, financial preparedness, contract work, documentation, and maintaining healthy professional boundaries.

Debbie Spearing, LPC-S will present ADHD: More Than a Diagnosis, offering a clear and compassionate look at ADHD beyond the symptoms. Participants will explore how ADHD impacts focus, emotions, time management, and daily life while also learning to recognize and build upon the strengths often found within the ADHD profile.

Kelly Lashar, LPC & Jaclyn Lashar will present Living on Both Sides: A Mother and Daughter’s Journey, reframing Borderline Personality Organization through the lens of identity, relationships, integration, and connection. Their presentation will explore how clinicians can move beyond a symptom checklist to understand the whole person and support the development of a more cohesive sense of self.

Participants will leave with practical clinical knowledge, a deeper understanding of the people behind the diagnoses, and strategies for building a healthier, more sustainable career in mental health.
